As an instructor, it hurts to see students leave Kung Fu. I feel like we have let them down by not inspiring them and showing them the benefits of Kung Fu.
This week there was a moment of happiness. A student who has left few months ago came back. I'm not sure what all the reasons are but it made me very happy. I'm pretty sure that the commitment and the role model of the student's mom was a crucial part in it.
I couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteMany things factored into why she left, none of which had anything to do with the awesome instruction they were receiving. I'm not even sure why she chose to return. Perhaps sitting on the mats watching was not how she wanted to spend her days.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words. I honestly can't take all of the credit. Unlike many students who choose to pursue other activities, she was still regularly at the kwoon. Although she was not a registered student, she still very much felt a part of the Silent River family. She has been surrounded by people who love & live Kung Fu with great joy. I appreciate the influence everyone has had on her. This past week has been a very challenging one for her personally. She would happily tell you that the highlights of her week have been the two days she was in class.
Indeed, it has been a very happy moment!
